An experimental merging of
sound and animation

These characters exist within an endless, random,  ever-changing  live audio-reactive, midi-reactive digital medium. Using the concept of Jazz's mix of calculated & semi-improvised experimental nature, animation can morph similarly with each unique sound or performance.

Abstraction, randomisation , glitches/ degradation as metaphors for the human experience, in relation to social media, computers, surveillance/anonymity. Cyborgs are a representation of technology as a physical extension of the body & brain.

'EARTH' is my debut live experimental audio-visual piece, CIRCA X Dazed Media finalist piece, that's designed to be a spectacle, like the view of Earth from space. 'A colossal technological monolith standing in a cosmopolitan metropolis 500 years from now' is an idea I had.

The piece is designed to be seen in a large format, and conveys community through the lens of music & sound, which has brought people together through time and space. Patterns are a global visual language, and the beating of drums is a global audio-language arisen from the birth of music. The beat-driven ambient sound incorporates audio from NASA.

NASA’s satellite scan of the earth's surface create the topological details. The animation evaluates the track’s audio information and moves in synchronisation, and due to its generative nature, coded random factors and my midi-driven interaction in each play-through, the animation changes each time it is performed, and in theory- given endless computing power, is an endless visual piece. The instance recorded for Circa Art is one instance in time.
